More About Our Approach

What iStock_000002608088Small.jpg--person writingwe did today: After every in-person or Skype tutoring session, you (and for high-school learners, your parent/guardian) will receive a full typewritten report of what we did in our 60-minute session (we require a minimum of 60 minutes; sessions can be longer, too, if you prefer).

Our customers find it helpful to have a written record of our learning activities from each session.

From our first session on, you can track your progress and accomplishments.

Parents are always relieved to get our detailed agendas/progress reports. We quantify that all tutoring time is being spent productively–with clear start points, end points, and outcomes.

Traditional and technical: We are a bit old fashioned in what we do (we still believe in sentence diagramming), yet we combine new technology to serve your needs.  Examples:

We use fun yet educational grammar-related software, favored by high school students

We offer Skype lessons, favored by distance learners and those who seek convenience

We offer e-mail asynchronous tutoring. This means:

You email us your paper.  We review your paper and embed our written feedback in comment boxes like this.

Our e-tutoring is favored by academic writing/editing customers.

In-depth needs assessment:  We evaluate your strengths and difficulties, learning style, and more.

All paperwork is sent to you and must be completed before we start lessons. We also ask that you set realistic goals to work toward in tutoring. You can modify your goals at any time.

Most of our high school students actually enjoy completing our “getting to know you” paperwork.

We have a special interest in autism-spectrum disorders at the high-functioning end.

We have working experience and are intimately familiar with conditions that affect learning, memory, concentration, and focus (e.g. attention deficit hyperactivity disorder; anxiety disorders; mood disorders).
